Remedy for the Malady

The Bible calls us to stand for righteousness, defend the defenseless, combat lies, and vehemently resist opposition that tries to stifle truth. We cannot afford to remain silent while some sanction sin. We must do what we’re able to thwart evil agendas that threaten freedom and seek to cease the advance of the Gospel message.

Wake up! Stand up and speak up, America, before you lose your freedom of speech, the right to raise your children according to your convictions—your parental rights, the right to defend your property and family, your privacy, and freedom of religion.

Some say it’s okay to take a snooze because an issue isn’t affecting them personally. But the Bible says it’s the little foxes that spoil the vine. Some say they won’t vote because they don’t like either candidate. Many are quick to complain but slow to be part of the solution.

Failure to choose is a choice. We either advance good or enable evil.

First, they came for the socialists, but I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, but I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, but I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

 — Holocaust survivor Pastor Martin Niemöller

There are no perfect candidates, but we are blessed with the freedom and responsibility to vote for the ones that best align with our values. For those who are Christians, our values ought to line up with the Bible.

Wake up, America!  Your prosperity has blinded you to your poverty. Wake up, Christian! You have become comfortable in your complacency.

Wake up before you lose your soul, our God-given rights, and the freedoms our forefathers wrote into our United States Constitution, those founded on Biblical principle! Wake up before we lose America.

The world has lost its moral compass. Many believe the lie that we are accidents and there is no God who lives and loves, and created, and died to save us. No wonder the soaring depression, suicide, and callous treatment and snuffing out of lives—they’ve lost regard for the sanctity of life and lost sight of hope and purpose. Many refuse to judge right from wrong—everything goes. They do what is right in their own eyes, the blind leading the blind and society unravels. The first world has been lulled to slumber by indifference, self-centeredness and indulgence while the terrorists and anarchists have been planting and plotting in every nation.

Humanism’s  philosophy “Good without God” — is a statement, a spirit, that flies in the face of God and calls Him a liar. For the Bible says:

“As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;” Romans‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is what we get without God. Sound familiar?

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” ‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭3:1-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God defines Himself. He is the originator of morality. He sets boundaries because He loves us. The Bible says woe unto those who call evil good and good evil. Christ calls the Church to be the light to a lost, broken world. His priorities ought to be ours.

Christian means Christ follower. Those who make Jesus their Lord and are governed by His Word, the Bible, will sometimes find themselves on the opposite side of issues than secular culture. We can disagree with people and still love them. Because we love people, we cannot support behavior we believe harmful to them. Because we love God, we strive to be faithful to His Word and will for our lives.

We either stand for righteousness or fall to sin.

See, stand, speak—share the love of Jesus, speak the truth in love.

The Bible is not a buffet. Some say: “I’ll have just a little of Jesus—I like this but I’ll have none of that.” Some want the Savior, but not His standards. No! We will either have all of Jesus or none at all.

Tell me, whatever happened to holy? Yes, we are saved by grace and are His works in progress. But some want salvation, and not sanctification. They want Heaven but not holiness; they want license for loose living and to still be blessed. Some want the Savior but not the sacrifice, their way over His way—but the Gospel doesn’t work that way!

Christ is the Rock, the Word of God is the measure by which all is weighed against—not the whims of cultural sway, personal preference, emotionalism, doctrines of devils or the strange fire of another gospel.

See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse—the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods Deuteronomy 11:26-28

No matter who is President, if we want to make America great again, then we need to make America moral again, and the surest way for that is to get America born again. But first, some of the Church needs to be born again—again. Stop making excuses for sin, stop calling it something other than what it is.

If any nation, any person, desires lasting change, true freedom, they must be established in righteousness, build on the time tested and timeless sure foundation of the Word of God. Quit worshiping at the altar of convenience and compromise and come to the cross. Cast off rote religious ritual and embrace a relationship with the Creator. If we want to withstand the trials to come and inherit God’s blessing and dwell in Jesus’ promise of peace that surpasses understanding, we must repent. Turn and cling wholeheartedly to the One who made us, loves us, is able to keep us, and knows how best we run.

“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” Romans 13:11–14 (NKJV)

“Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” Hosea‬ ‭10:12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Ultimately, Jesus is the remedy for our malady; He is the answer for all that ails us.

God promises:

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” II Chronicles‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  1. Rachael, what a powerful post rich with Scripture and memorable lines! This quote grabbed my attention: “Wake up, America! Your prosperity has blinded you to your poverty. Wake up, Christian! You have become comfortable in your complacency.”
May we all choose holiness, the way of the cross, and let His light shine!

  3. Rachael, I couldn’t think of a more timely blog post than what I just read. The message is needed and clear. Wake Up! Stand Up! and Speak Up! Far too many people have decided to Fade Out, Walk Off, and Keep Silent. 😦
Thank you for encouraging us by example and challenging us with your words! Christians need to realize that it isn’t about what’s best for us, it needs to be what aligns with the Word of God! Keep the torch lit brightly! [salute]

  4. Long before we had political problems we had spiritual and heart problems. Our politics will never be made right by more politics, and we need to stop expecting some legislation, act of government, or political party will ride to our rescue.
If we will humble ourselves, repent and call upon Him for help, we can get everything we need to be good stewards of our freedom. Look up, and not to the Capital.

  5. Amen! Great post and so true. Christians need to wake up. We need holiness to start in the Church. We can’t expect the world to follow what we can’t or won’t do. Thanks for this timely post.

  6. Well said author! The problem isn’t who sits in the White House; the problem is who sits upon the throne of our hearts! Too many in all branches of the U.S. government have forgotten what it means to serve a moral nation. Perhaps, because you so aptly point out, these United States of America has systematically become more and more immoral with each passing decade. As the Christian church, the very body of Christ, we abdicated the role of being the moral authority to government. It wasn’t ours to give, and it is up to us to get it back for the American people. As Mrs. Ruth Bell-Graham once said (paraphrased), “If God doesn’t pass judgment on this immoral nation, He’ll need to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” God’s blessings young lady!
