Part 1 ~ Law Enforcement Series: A Master Police Officer, Veteran, Former Atheist, and His Extraordinary Wife

Master Police Officer Lewis has served in Virginia for 15 years. He was an active duty U.S. Naval officer for eight years and then in the reserves. He is also a former atheist. Officer Lewis and his wife Mickey adopted their two children from South Korea. Their son is on the autism spectrum. Mickey is a complex trauma survivor and a licensed professional counselor in practice for 15 years. She specializes in trauma treatment: working with abuse victims, sex trafficking survivors, and first responders—those struggling with PTSD.

It is my great honor to host this series of interviews featuring law enforcement officers from around the country, a project laid heavy on my heart for over three years. My goal is at least one representative from every state in the U.S.A.. I plan to weave these interview among other topics and articles over a span of time.

I have a heart for those who serve in tough places such as pastors and their wives, law enforcement, our military, teachers, nurses, doctors, other first responders and their families. I feel they are often underappreciated, misunderstood, and disrespected. Yes, there are problems with racism and brutality by some police officers and it’s crucial they be addressed and remedied now. Buta few do not define the whole, the many faithful, brave officers who lay their lives on the line for their communities and strive to uphold justice, peace, and order daily. I believe we need a return to respect for authority, as well as to see those who faithfully, honorably, serve and protect in these capacities as human and in need and deserving of our appreciation, and support.

I pray this series helps bridge the gap and open productive conversations between our law enforcement officers and those they serve. I pray it ministers, inspires, instructs, fosters relationships, and brings about positive action.

Welcome to you my audience, and to my first interviewees in this series, Officer Lewis and Mickey.

*Due to the variety of topics covered, this AUDIO INTERVIEW is longer than usual. A great opportunity to listen while you work on a long overdue project—(like cleaning out your closet 🙂 ) or while on a commute. If you need to pause and return later, may I suggest you screenshot or make note of the time spot in the audio where you stopped.

    1. Only 49 states left to represent in this series featuring our law enforcement officers and their families! Lol. – And some states will have more than one representative. Honored to do it. Sure glad to have you as a fellow writer and brother in the Lord–I need those prayers to pull this off! And don’t forget to pray for our law enforcement officers. – God bless you, Ben.
