Angelina Lives! ~ A Hope Filled Pro-life Story

We live in a time where many demand their rights, but few rise to their responsibilities. In some ancient cultures, they sacrificed their children to pagan gods. Today, many sacrifice their children on the altar of convenience, self-preservation, and pleasure. Man’s short-term solutions based on his desires and emotions often cause more significant problems in the long term.

Fourteen years ago, I witnessed a young mom withstand a tirade of angry faces, phone calls, angry words hurled in public places.

“Get a *?#*!#! abortion!” they said.

“No!” the mama said. She would not take the life of her child. — Angelina lives! I took her newborn pictures, and today I have the joy and honor of introducing you to her via this inspiring 12 minute video conversation below, followed by some engaging resources offering help, hope, and healing to those in similar situations.

God is the definer of morality. Without the higher law of God to set boundaries and guide us, man becomes a law unto himself, and society quickly devolves into lawlessness and looking out for self, rather than the greater good of all.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
(Isaiah 5:20-21) NKJV)

Some people knowingly make destructive decisions, others are ill-informed. Some push others into them. So it is with abortion. I’ve heard firsthand the pain of regret, the devastating aftereffects from those who made or were a part of this choice. Abortion’s casualties are the unborn, but it has many victims.

God set His standards in His Word out of love to sustain, strengthen, and equip us for life. Often it’s hard and unpopular to do right. Wrong sometimes masquerades as easy at first, but it leads to destruction. God’s Word, the Bible, stands the test of time and is a preserver.

Reasons aren’t excuses for wrongdoing. Sin is still sin no matter the circumstance, and it bears consequences. But God extends the offer of grace.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 KJV)

Jesus came for the lost, and broken, to seek, redeem, and restore, to offer forgiveness—a clean slate. It’s important we come alongside others in compassionate care in their struggles and when they stumble to help them find their footing and proclaim truth with love.

For those whose entry into this world was less than ideal—there are no accidental people.

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
(Psalm 139:13-17 NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
(Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

Mama

Mama, do you feel my heartbeat?
Do you know what I’ll become?
Do hopes for your future include me, or are you the only one?
Nautical ships and airships recount the souls on board.
Have you counted the souls God gave you to cherish in the Lord?
You may think I am being pushy or even being harsh.
But my future is in your hand; my hopes, my life, my heart.
My DNA now rests in you, but it is so unique.
A part of you, a part of Dad, but right now small and weak.
I soon may look like you or maybe I will not.
Both our hearts are beating now.
Please never let them stop.
Your mother gave you life, please show love for me the same.
Recycle your genes through this new life, so love may be complete.
