Captured by Grace: An Interview with Pastor Harold Warner

He was 24 years old, young in his Christian faith, and newly married when a tragic car accident left him paralyzed. But that didn’t deter him from answering God’s call. Just months later, alongside his wife Mona, they launched into pastoral ministry. Fifty-two years later, Harold Warner still faithfully serves as pastor of the Door Church in Tucson, AZ, while having worldwide impact as a church planter. A powerful example of tenacity and humility, Pastor Warner shares wisdom on faith, evangelism, leadership, and the writing journey.

Pastor Banet and Kathie were sent out of The Potter’s House Church, Prescott Arizona in 2004. They pastor the Potter’s House Church in Eldorado Park, a suburb of Johannesburg near Soweto. The Potter’s House in Eldorado serves as a leadership and bible conference center for the region and has planted churches in South Africa and beyond.

Missionaries upend and sometimes risk their lives to serve the Gospel in restricted nations. They are often bold in the face of opposition, while many people in America display passivity in the face of peace, and take for granted our freedoms rather than being grateful for them. American Christianity is uncomfortable with inconvenience. I pray these messages from missionaries who left the comforts and security of their homeland to proclaim the message of Jesus’ love, deliverance, and salvation, will stir your heart.

Anonymous Former Missionary to China: Sharing the Gospel wherever you are is all about leaving the comfortable whether it’s leaving our home or going beyond ourselves. Compassion and caring for people can awaken anyone to go beyond intimidation and our own limitations. We were missionaries in China for four years—that was our commitment.
